Butterflies

This post is for my daughter (and hopefully to welcome in some warmer weather). I have taken a few great pics of butterflies and Calli is already talking about her butterfly garden for this summer.Calli and I found this Monarch all the way in Florida.  She was having a bit of a tantrum when I suggested going on a butterfly hunt (I had seen them earlier).  This perked her right up and off we went.  We found four or five flitting around the flower in front of the trading post and she forgot all about what she was sad about.

These ones are from the Butterfly Conservatory down in Niagara. It's alot easier to get nice pics when they are everywhere!

I love you Calli.  I look forward to more butterfly hunts this summer.

Niagara Falls

For my first post I will show a few of my pics from Niagara falls.  I think I will use this blog to showoff some of my favorite pics.  I love taking the pics and most of them seem to end up locked away on my hard drive.  When we went to the falls on Mar 1, there had been a drastic drop in the temperature coupled with some high winds.  As a result everything in the area that the mist had landed was coated in a layer of ice. I love this picture, it almost look black and white.  It really was beautiful.

The kids were really impressed with the ice.  They were only slightly impressed by the actual falls themselves.

Sebastian especially liked the plaques that were covered in ice.  He had me take pictures of the ones we passed so he could compare them when we return to the falls this summer.

It was a cool learning experience for the kids and even something I had never seen before.  Callista thinks it will be better to go to Niagara falls in the summer because it was way to cold.  I think that despite the cold the falls couldn't be more beautiful in the winter.

Next post I think I will pick some of my favorite summer pics.
Hopefully that will inspire warmer weather!
